廉斯卓回憶史料出土過程，輾轉且曲折。1643年3月3日，荷蘭東印度公司商務員尼卡修斯‧德‧侯賀（Nicasius de Hooghe）由大員長官任命，前往測繪所有房舍與地產的面積，並加以登記，以為日後抽取稅款的依據。1647年1月，德‧侯賀帶著妻子與兩子離開臺灣，欲舉家返回故鄉阿姆斯特丹的途中遭難，僅幼子安東尼倖存。安東尼返抵荷蘭後，交由親叔叔羅麥‧德‧侯賀（Romeyn de Hooghe）及公證人賽巴斯提安‧凡得彼(Sebastiaan van der Piet)一同監護。
